The church itself is very beautiful, especially the interior. The legend of Plankental is also worth reading.

If you want to visit the Plankentalkapelle, you have to find a way back. Outside the village of Kappel in the southwest, Stations of the Cross lead to the contemplative dormant place that keeps alive the memory of mourning and suffering. "Plankental", "Tränental" is called this place because the three sons of Blessed Adelindis, Beringer, Reginolf and Gerhard, were murdered here. The place of the chapel also indicates the place where Adelindis received the news of death from her husband Ato, who lost his life fighting the Hungarians. The southern exterior of the chapel depicts words from the tradition of this event in a second-half Sgrafitto of the 1940s: Adelindis was anxiously awaiting the return of her beloved husband and questioning the wind: "Windle, Windle, hurt until I see my master again . "He then appeared to her as a headless horseman, carrying his head in a bowl. Adelindis exclaimed in deepest alarm: "Windle, Windle, hurt until I can no longer see my masters." In Kappeler Plankental are built as a shrine 14 stations with the cast-iron Kreuzwegbildern from the 19th century. Since the 16th century, crossroads with illustrated stations in the history of the Passion have been known, showing Jesus' ordeal from condemnation by Pontius Pilate to crucifixion and burial. So also the Way of the Cross in Kappeler Plankental, which ends like many ways of the cross on "Calvary" (Skull Place), where a "Holy Sepulcher" or a representation of the crucifixion scene stands. At the Plankentalkapelle was also a long time a large crucifixion group of wood, which stands today but on the Bad Buchau church square at the war memorial.
