There is no reliance on passage. At least on 11.07.2026, the bridge was closed all day for bicycle and rail traffic. Actually unimaginable that by default the bridge is released for ship traffic in normal operation and closed for bicycle traffic. Hundreds of cyclists cannot cross. Even medium-sized ships can pass under it with the bridge closed. Better to avoid this region widely.

The port location Leer is both a high-performance seaport and an important hub for inland navigation. At the same time, Leer is the second-largest shipping location in Germany. In good weather, it's always very busy here.

The newly designed and newly asphalted section has become one of my favorite trails. Wide track, outstanding view and in the forest section, birds 🐦 chirping

Viewing platform with viewing windows onto the Polder Holter Hammrich nature reserve and directly on the circular route (Heuweg). Sheep and birds are often found on the grassy areas. Cyclists can follow nodes 72 and 73.

Still not quite finished. The times when the bridge is passable are not yet entirely clear to me (and to some other cyclists as well).
