It lies picturesquely before us, the 180 hectare Küchensee near Ratzeburg. A fantastically beautiful circular hiking trail leads around the lake for around 8 kilometers. Along the way, there are magical rest areas with a view of the water, some on footbridges that extend into the lake. The Küchensee hike is a wonderful tour for the whole family. The sights include the Farchauer Mill in the south of the Großer Küchensee and of course the old town of Ratzeburg on the Dominsel, which can be reached via the narrow-gauge railway embankment. There are several bathing spots along the way. The shady forest sections on this hike also offer cooling off on hot days.

Canoes and smaller watercraft can be launched directly into the small Küchensee lake on the east bank of the old town island via a wooden footbridge. The public slipway is in the immediate vicinity (opposite the police building). Parking is available both at the Aqua Siwa indoor swimming pool and on the Theaterplatz, which is a little further away.

Küchenseedamm. A hiking highlight. There are beautiful views on both sides. Water birds like to gather on the banks and are easy to observe.

On the northern edge of the Bartelsbusch there are still a few particularly gnarled oak trees. They are probably almost 300 years old.
