The Three Penance Crosses on the Naab Many centuries ago, two farmers lived in Perschen who wanted to have their ploughshares sharpened by the blacksmith in Nabburg. They set off together and stopped at an inn along the way. There was laughter, storytelling, and more drinking than was good for them. When they started their way home along the Naab in the evening, they got into a fierce argument. Angry words turned into a fight. Finally, one of the farmers grabbed his freshly sharpened ploughshare and struck his companion dead. The people in the village were deeply shaken. As penance for the terrible deed, stone crosses were erected at this spot. One of them still bears the mark of a ploughshare today and serves as a reminder of the weapon with which the misfortune occurred. Even today, the three penance crosses stand silently on the bank of the Naab. Hikers often stop there for a moment and reflect on the old story. It reminds us how quickly anger and lack of self-control can cause great suffering. The moral of the legend: He who does not control his anger can lose everything in a single moment. Peace and prudence are more valuable than any argument won.

Lake Murner See is a lignite mining lake that was flooded in the 1980s and is part of the Upper Palatinate lake district. Thanks to its clear waters, it is very popular with divers, stand-up paddleboarders, swimmers, and others. The family highlight at Lake Murner See is the fantastic Water-Fish-Nature adventure park. Yet it still exudes tranquility.
