Dorfkirche Weidenhain Church Dorfkirche Weidenhain Location 4860 Dreiheide OT Weidenhain, Schulstr. Homepage kirche.torgau-druck-digital.de/kirchenkreis/kirchenamt/10-pfarrbereiche/46-sueptitz.html District Nordsachsen State Sachsen State Church Evangelische Kirche in Mitteldeutschland Description The late Romanesque Dorfkirche Weidenhain is a three-nave pillar basilica and was built between 1200 and 1250. The structure, made of plastered fieldstone masonry, has been little altered over time, so that the typical construction methods of the era can be studied here on an authentic sacred building. Remarkable is the large-scale fresco in the apse from the 13th century. It depicts Christ in a mandorla surrounded by the twelve apostles.
