After a long back and forth, the new rest stop for cyclists in Wittgensdorf finally has a permanent operator. Oliver Oertel plans to open the so-called "Färbergarten" on the Chemnitztalradweg every weekend - provided the weather cooperates. There are several food and drink stands where cyclists can fortify themselves. It took over four years for the rest stop to finally be approved. Due to flood protection issues, the state directorate had even imposed a construction freeze in the meantime. https://www.radiochemnitz.de/beitrag/fahrradrastplatz-in-wittgensdorf-jetzt-regelmaessig-geoeffnet-891119/

The small memorial of the Taura Military Association is situated peacefully along the path, offering a moment of reflection on an otherwise rather strenuous hike. The site is well-maintained and provides information about local history. A short stop is worthwhile to soak up the atmosphere and learn a bit about the area's past. It's an ideal spot for a quiet break before continuing through the surrounding fields and woods.

The old tracks are used for short railcar rides and are well worth a visit. From the opposite side of the station, you can get a good view of the tracks.
