Today's structure gives little indication that the history of the Wustrow pier stretches far back into the past. The town's first pier was completed in 1886: it was built of wood and was only 50 meters long. To stimulate traffic between Warnemünde and Wustrow, an extension of the pier became necessary in the following years. A lively shipping trade developed between the two towns until the 1930s, during which time the Wustrow pier reached its greatest importance. However, the harsh winters gradually took their toll on the pier, which fell into increasing disrepair. The weather conditions of recent years have also left their mark on the newest pier: in 2011, the town's landmark underwent extensive renovation. Almost all of the pier's wooden components were replaced. Source: https://www.ostsee.de/fischland-darss-zingst/seebruecke-wustrow.php
