March 14, 2025, Protected Area of Prairies and Heathlands of Montagny

Part of it is private property....(There is a gate that indicates it but which can be crossed because it has a hole in it) And quite a few fords and they are difficult to cross after heavy rain and in spring.(No bridge except tree trunks) So the loop as proposed is not feasible, we had to adapt the tour so it is longer. I will therefore not recommend this tour as proposed because of the private part....

Route taken today, December 27, 2024, it is no longer relevant because on the original one there are passages that are no longer accessible, we had to finish on the D83 at night and with the fog!

Here is a small wooden bridge which allows you to cross the Mornantet and access the Montrond forest plateau.

Beautiful Romanesque building from the 12th century, in a peaceful little square.

Located on a plateau at an altitude of 330 meters, the Montagny meadows and moors area was protected in 1993 in order to preserve the integrity of biological balances and prevent the disappearance of animal and plant species. Nine remarkable bird species, three invertebrate species, nine plant species and one European amphibian (great crested newt) live in this environment. Note that mountain biking off the trails is prohibited in this area.
