Back open since lockdown and masonry inspections. Check historic Scotland for opening times. I visited again in August 2023. Youll find a surprising amount of castle to see!

Tolquhon Castle remains seem quite impressive. Unfortunately the grounds are closed, so can only observe the castle from the street. Still a good spot to leave the car for a walk. https://www.historicenvironment.scot/visit-a-place/places/tolquhon-castle/

The castle is accessible by public transportation; take the 291 Stagecoach bus to East Newseat of Tolquhon. The castle is about a mile from the stop. Ask the driver to drop you at the path for the castle to save some walk. Don't miss the original Forbes coat of arms carved in stone; it used to be in the 15th century tower but is now in the visitor's center.

This is a free museum with permanent and seasonal exhibits. On display are stone age tools, including a sword, excavated from a nearby stone circle. The center is open 1-4.30pm Thursday through Sunday from 5th April to 28th October, 2018. Their website is www.tarvesheritage.org.uk
