Back open since lockdown and masonry inspections. Check historic Scotland for opening times. I visited again in August 2023. Youll find a surprising amount of castle to see!

Tolquhon Castle remains seem quite impressive. Unfortunately the grounds are closed, so can only observe the castle from the street. Still a good spot to leave the car for a walk. https://www.historicenvironment.scot/visit-a-place/places/tolquhon-castle/

Pitmedden House and Gardens are managed by the Scottish National Trust. The gardens are particularly famous. There is an apple festival at the end of September, and you can try heirloom apples from the orchard. https://www.nts.org.uk/visit/places/pitmedden-garden

Reaching the edge of the forest, the open fields offer a great view towards Bennachie and other hills. Tap o'noth can also be seen. Some picnic benches here to to enjoy the view.
