The Stolperstein (memorial plaque) for Paul Hartmann is located at Birkenstraße 19 and commemorates a political opponent of National Socialism. Paul Hartmann was born on January 13, 1907, in Celle and worked as a bricklayer. He was politically active in the labor movement and a member of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). In Celle, he assumed a leading role within the party and contributed to the publication of the newspaper "Das Rote Sprachrohr" (The Red Mouthpiece). After the National Socialists seized power, Hartmann was arrested in February 1933 on charges of high treason and imprisoned in various jails. He was later imprisoned again, including in Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Prison. In 1942, he was drafted into the so-called Probation Battalion 999, a penal unit into which political opponents of the Nazi regime were frequently assigned. Paul Hartmann was killed on October 22, 1944, while serving in the war in Greece. After the National Socialists seized power, Hartmann was arrested in February 1933 for alleged high treason and held in various prisons. The stumbling stone in front of his former residence commemorates his fate and is part of the Europe-wide memorial project by the artist Gunter Demnig, which remembers the victims of Nazi persecution.

The bronze statue "Stallion Wohlklang in Liberty Dressage" is one of the most striking works of art in Celle Palace Park. It depicts the famous stallion Wohlklang from the Celle State Stud Farm, accompanied by his handler, Günter Nagel. The sculpture was created by the sculptor Ulrich Conrad and erected in 1985 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the State Stud Farm – a gift from the Celle Savings Bank. With the rearing horse, the serene human figure, and the view of the white palace, the statue combines animal breeding tradition, craftsmanship, and representation. At Heiligen Kreuz 26 stands the oldest surviving timber-framed house in Celle's old town. First mentioned in 1522, it is considered the oldest securely dated building within Celle's extensive collection of timber-framed buildings. It is a gable-fronted timber-framed house with a saddle roof, featuring stepped gables projecting from story to story and Gothic ornamentation in the gable area. It is a typical example of the early construction phase of Celle's old town, which spanned approximately 600 years. Celle boasts around 400 preserved timber-framed houses; this building marks the oldest dated structure. The Brandplatz (Fire Square) marks one of the most historically significant sites in Celle's old town. Where today lies an open, quiet square, a devastating city fire raged in 1652, destroying large parts of the quarter. The subsequent reconstruction left a lasting mark on the cityscape: Many of the surrounding half-timbered houses date from the period after the fire and showcase the typical Celle architecture of the 17th century. www.celle.de
