Saracen Caves

Highlight • Cave

The only thing to note is that there are grottos to the right and left, whereas to the right you have to descend much further and these are perhaps a little less impressive. In my opinion, the descent is also worthwhile because you can see this beautiful formation of stripes from the different lava layers opposite.

Cave di Caolino

Highlight • Natural Monument

In the area is a former mining area of china clay (kaolin). On the rocks are great color games.

Statue of Our Lady in the Grotto

Highlight • Monument

I definitely recommend wearing very light and breathable clothing
as we saw people going up in jeans. Bring at least one bottle of water, once it's finished don't worry because along the trail you can refill at two fountains.

Hermitage of San Leone

Highlight • Religious Site

The Church and the former Convent of San Leone are located in a wooded area a few kilometers from the town of Rometta. In the place, now abandoned, it is possible to admire the remains of the buildings, the saint's cave and the particular vegetation that characterizes this place. In fact, the area is rich in oaks, chestnuts, pines and other elements typical of the Mediterranean scrub, which make these areas, especially in the period of chestnut or asparagus mushrooms, a destination for many visitors

Usignolo Water Spring

Highlight • Natural Monument

A beautiful, fresh and suggestive source that is accessed through a narrow and dark tunnel of a few meters. At the end of the tunnel there is a small open-air area, in which only two or three people can be at the same time, from the wall of which the water flows. I recommend bringing a torch or a headlamp because the tunnel, although short, is very dark as it bends sharply.

There are no signs on the trail to the Grotto. Just follow the map and trail a little bit downhill to the entrance. I found this Grotto much more interesting and beautiful than the Grotto along the main trail.

The entrance looks unspectacular, but after you enter it, it is really beautiful. If you bring head lights or a flashlight you can go inside and have some nice views outside.
