The trekking site is located in a small clearing surrounded by oaks and beech trees near the Snow White Trail. There is even a fire pit with a picnic bench for a cozy campfire in the evening. You can find the wood for this in the firewood warehouse.

For the night you pay 10 euros per tent, there is space for five tents, each with two to three people. But after a night you have to move on. You make a booking online here: trekking-bayern.de/buchungsanfrage.html

The trekking site is open from April 1st to October 31st. You bring your own drinking water and toilet paper for the composting toilet.

Dominikus-Stein Memorial

Highlight • Monument

Dominikus Stone
The Dominikus Stone stands in the Krommenthal Forest. Not far from it, in 1878, a farmer from Neuhütten, Dominikus Stenger, was caught by a forester while illegally collecting leaves. During the ensuing argument, the forester shot Dominikus Stenger in self-defense. His wife found his body lying over a rake and scythe.

This field monument originally stood at the edge of a spruce thicket, where it was torn out and damaged during logging operations. It was restored and repositioned in 2001. A stone cross was initially placed on the stone, but this soon disappeared. The wrought iron cross on the globe now in place comes from the former Stations of the Cross around the Neuhütten Church.

Highlight • Natural Monument

The "Pulpit Oak" is protected as a natural monument and is located on the summit of the Schneidberg between Partenstein and Krommenthal, directly on the forest path between the "Reichhöh" and "Hochsitz" departments.

The "pulpit oak" is said to be over 350 years old. With a height of just under 27 m, however, it has an extremely impressive diameter of over 140 cm, that is around 4 m and 50 cm in circumference (measured at a height of 130 cm from the ground). The origin of the name of this oak is explained by a forest expert "Partensteiner" as follows:

“In earlier years (around 1930) there was a giant hunting pulpit in the oak, over 20 m high. The pulpit could be climbed via four ladders that were attached around the tree. The view and thus the control of the red deer herd was possible as far as the valleys to the raft bottom, since the forest stands outside were still significantly lower. The clear view of the "hostile foreign countries" in the Lohr city forest, almost up to the peach height, was very important. In addition, you could monitor the long line from Hartrodacker far back into the Reichhöh with its main bills! "

High seats, such as this grand pulpit, were also well known in other hunting grounds in the Spessart. Our oak has carried the pulpit with patience, the traces of the hunting equipment have long been blurred.

The pictures belong to the bike park, not to the trail. The trail is nice, narrow with roots but mobile
