After a long and tedious climb, you finally reach a singletrack trail that winds its way uphill and, in places, exposed, along the gorge floor. However, the trail is technically easy to ride. Anyone who doesn't mind the elevation will enjoy the ride.

One of the most interesting highlights, but the entire Alps Epic Trail is incredible. A must-do for any mountain biker!

Bridge over an incredibly deep and very narrow gorge of the Landwasser (Zügenschlucht). And far below, the stream rushes. Looking down can make you dizzy. If you pass by Wiesen train station, you should definitely go to the bridge. It's only a few steps, but it's definitely worth it.

Attention, the Zügenschlucht has been closed until further notice since August 2023 following a storm due to rockfall, windthrow of wood and landslides! This will remain the case until at least 2025 (info at davos.ch/aktivitaeten/outdoor-abenteuer).

Yes, the region offers various hiking experiences. For instance, the Landwasser Gorge has trails like the Landwasser Viaduct Trail from Filisur, which is considered easy to moderate. The Zügenschlucht also features engaging trails, including educational hikes like the 'Educational Rock Trail' and the 'Mobility Trail', which are suitable for a broader audience.
The gorges are characterized by dramatic landscapes carved by rivers like the Landwasser. In the Zügenschlucht, you'll find impressive rock formations and rugged beauty. The Landwasser Gorge showcases deep chasms and the geological impact of the river, especially visible around the Landwasser Viaduct. Val Tuors, while not a typical gorge, features glaciated peaks and diverse alpine flora.
The best time to visit is generally during the warmer months, from late spring to early autumn (May to October), when hiking trails are clear of snow and the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities. This period allows for full enjoyment of the natural beauty and accessibility to most trails.

The railway itself passes through both the Landwasser Gorge and the Zügenschlucht, offering scenic views and access points for hikers. Many trails are accessible from train stations in towns like Filisur and Bergün.
Absolutely. The most prominent is the UNESCO World Heritage Landwasser Viaduct in the Landwasser Gorge, a marvel of railway engineering. It's always advisable to check specific trail regulations or local signage, especially in nature protection areas, but the natural environment is largely dog-friendly.
While the gorges themselves are natural and wild, nearby villages like Bergün and Filisur offer various amenities, including cafes and restaurants where you can refuel before or after your hike. Some trails might also pass by alpine huts or smaller establishments, especially in areas like Val Tuors, but it's always good to carry snacks and water.
