This unfinished castle was built by a sculptor and furniture manufacturer from Gdańsk, who in 1984 received permission to build a residential house with a sculpture studio. Looking at what he built, his imagination definitely got carried away. In 1991, construction was officially suspended as the facility being constructed exceeded the provisions of the building permit. Then came the investor's financial problems and the matter stuck for years.
The castle took on a life of its own and became legendary. Even when empty, it makes a stunning impression, so over time it became a true illegal and dangerous, but undoubtedly interesting, and for many, even magical, tourist attraction.

Kwidzyn Castle

Highlight • Castle

The castle in Kwidzyn is an impressive Gothic stronghold from the 14th century, the former seat of the Pomesanian chapter. Its massive walls and characteristic sanitary-defense tower, connected to the castle by the longest covered porch in the world, are a symbol of medieval defensive architecture in these areas. The castle was not only a religious and administrative center, but also played an important role in the Polish-Teutonic conflicts and in the Priests' War. Rebuilt and adapted many times over the centuries, today it houses a museum and is one of the most important historical attractions in the region.

Słupsk Castle

Highlight • Castle

n the early Middle Ages, the dukes resided elsewhere, in a castle beyond the Stolpe. In 1339, Bogislaw V attempted to build a residence within the medieval town at the Mühlentor, but the townspeople successfully resisted these plans. Only Bogislaw X. succeeded in building the residence in 1507, when the aristocratic city administration simply eliminated citizen participation.
The new ducal seat consisted of a two-storey building with a fortified tower facing the city. From 1586 the castle was rebuilt according to plans by Wilhelm Zacharias. The building was increased and remodeled in the style of the Renaissance. The eastern and western facades got bay windows, and the tower got a loggia. The interiors received vaults resting on a column. A monumental knight's hall was built on the second floor. Overall, the interior design was similar to that of the Szczecin Castle.

Gniew Castle

Highlight • Castle

The castle in Gniew is one of the most powerful Teutonic strongholds on the left bank of the Vistula, built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. For centuries, it played an important military and administrative role in the Teutonic state, and after being incorporated into Poland, it became the seat of royal starosts. In the 17th century, it was associated with the figure of Jan Sobieski. The castle played an important role during the Polish-Teutonic wars and the so-called War for the Vistula Mouth.

Today, the castle is beautifully restored and is a tourist attraction with numerous historical events, such as knight tournaments and battle reenactments. Visitors can see the recreated interiors and spend the night in the castle apartments.

July 7, 2026, Swan Tower (Baszta Łabędź), Gdańsk

The Swan Tower is a striking Gothic defensive tower on the Fish Market – a compact, red-brick remnant of the medieval fortifications of the Right Town. It was built after 1454 on the foundations of the demolished Fishermen's Bastion and was heightened and rebuilt after war damage. Located directly on the Motława River, it forms the northernmost point of the historic city wall and marks a transition between the harbor waterfront and the old town. The tower appears as a quiet anchor point on the water – brick, slight patina, along with the open shoreline. Especially in the early evening, a calm, almost picturesque moment arises when the Mottlau reflects the light and the tower stands out clearly against the sky. The tower is not accessible, but is strong as a photo motif and as a historical fixed point. Those who like medieval city fortifications will find a compact, well-preserved example here. https://www.holidaycheck.de/pi/schwanenbastei/e19870cd-bc47-36f8-ae54-ff002ed922c4

The St. Adalbert Bridge (Most im. św. Wojciecha) spans the Nogat River and leads you with the very best panoramic views of Marienburg Castle to the largest brick castle in the world. It connects the modern promenade (Bulwar im. Macieja Kilarskiego) on the city side directly with the castle grounds.

The area is still officially considered a construction site, which is why entry is prohibited — anyone who dares to do so does so at their own risk. However, seeing the former magnificent building from the outside is an experience in itself. Furthermore, according to „Troj Miasto”, there is now hope that Lapalice Castle could eventually be completed in the not-too-distant future: According to reports, the city council has approved the development of ideas for future use, almost 40 years after the dream began to take shape. Kazimierczak is said to have already expressed interest in a collaboration.
