July 9, 2026, View of Columbia River

Here, you can see Begbie Creek run into Columbia River. The views are great, and there's even a picnic table in case you want to relax and enjoy the view a little longer. The river with Mount Cartier in the background is really postcard perfect.

This short 3-kilometre round-trip take you out to the gorgeous Onyx Falls. The hike is usually fairly easy but there can be downed trees and other obstacles from time to time. However, as long as you come prepared you should make it to the falls and back without too much trouble.

This beautiful waterfall is accessed via a short 1.5-kilometre trail. The cascade is surrounded by lush temperate rainforest and when you stand at the foot of the falls you'll have feast for the senses. The beauty of the waterfall, the feel of the cool air coming off of the water, the sound of the falls, and the smell of the damp forest make this a truly special place.

Impressive, good parking, even for RVs. A shorter circular hike is possible.

The canyon is the result of glacial meltwater that flowed over the edge of the Clearwater Valley about 11,000 years ago. After the Ice Age, the stream receded into the comparatively small Spahats Creek.
