Here at the Ospizio Bernina, you're at 2,254 meters, the highest point of the Rhaetian Railway. Lake Bianco is directly in front of you. It gets its name from the white water, which is called glacial milk. Can you find the Clà Ferrovia station at the station building?

Lago Bianco is a reservoir near the Bernina Pass and lies within the municipalities of Pontresina and Poschiavo. The lake is located directly at the pass summit at 2,234 meters above sea level. Lago Bianco is bordered by two dams on its north and south sides and is approximately three kilometers long and about 800 meters wide. At its maximum depth, Lago Bianco is over 50 meters deep. The reservoir on the Bernina Pass is fed by various mountain streams and glacial water, with the Cavagliasch stream flowing through the lake the most. The whitish, somewhat milky Lago Bianco gets its name (in German, "White Lake") from the inflow of sand and glacial water. On the western shore of Lago Bianco is the Bernina Hospice (Ospizio Bernina), and the Rhaetian Railway's train line – the Bernina Express – also runs directly along the shore. The Bernina Pass road is also located on the west side, although not directly on the lakeshore. In cold winters, the lake can freeze over, and in some years, beautiful black ice forms. Once the reservoir is opened by the authorities, nothing stands in the way of ice skating on Lago Bianco. Text / Source: Schweizersee.ch https://www.schweizersee.ch/lago_bianco_pontresina/

RhB Station "Ospizio Bernina 2253 m a.s.l." The Ospizio Bernina (Bernina Hospiz) station, at 2253 m a.s.l., is the highest railway station in the Rhaetian Railway network. A special feature of the station on the Bernina Pass is a covered turntable for the snowplow. The station opened on June 1, 1909, with the extension of the Bernina Railway from Pontresina via Morteratsch. The gap was closed on July 5, 1910, from Bernina Pass via Alp Grüm to Poschiavo. The line was electrified from the outset. From the station's construction period, a staff housing building from 1912, designed by architect Nicolaus Hartmann, and the converter station have been preserved. Originally, the station was officially called Berninahospiz. The station building was also expanded in 1925, according to plans by Nicolaus Hartmann. The covered turntable, also built as part of the station expansion, also originates from his designs. Hartmann also designed the building for the next station on the Bernina Railway, Alp Grüm.
