The panoramic view from Maria Taferl over the Danube valley is fantastic. From the terrace of the well-known pilgrimage basilica Maria Taferl, the view extends far across the Danube valley to the Alps. The distinctive Ötscher stands out particularly.

Since the basilica is dedicated to the seven sorrows of Mary, the Way of the Cross has been redesigned. Starting from the road from Marbach, it leads up the southern slope of the Taferlberg and opens onto the western part of the church square. While the first five stations, designed by artists, are located on the Way of the Cross, the 6th station is the basilica's high altar with its venerable Pietà. The 7th station is the open-air altar to be erected on the east side of the square, which offers a comprehensive, free view of the Danube and the Alps.

The Landesgedenkstätte (National Memorial Site) represents a synthesis of historical tradition and the deepest religious sentiment in God's wonderful nature in an outstanding way. This bastion, erected at the western end of the church square, is a memorial for all those who did not return from the various wars, a place of thanks for those who were able to see their homeland again happily, and finally a monument for the many tens of thousands who were expelled from their homeland. But this memorial is not only dedicated to the soldiers, but also to the emergency services of the Lower Austrian Fire Brigades, the Red Cross, the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund, the police, and the security service, who gave their lives in the past.
