Monastery Foundation, Viktorsberg The history of the Viktorsberg Monastery The Irish hermit Eusebius had already settled on the Viktorsberg in the 9th century. In 1384, Count Rudolf V of Montfort-Feldkirch founded a monastery of the Franciscan Minorites there, which existed for four centuries until it was abolished in 1785. After that, the monastery church became the parish church of the Viktorsberg community, and the convent building served as a village school and rectory, among other things. At the beginning of the 20th century, the state of Vorarlberg made a significant contribution to the preservation of the ensemble, as it is one of the oldest Christian settlements in Vorarlberg. Today, the former monastery is a popular seminar, event and cultural center for many guests from home and abroad in an impressive location high above the Alpine Rhine Valley. The location and the beautiful view make this monastery a very special place.
