The Marching Men are a collection of four tall, thin desert towers lined up in a row on top of a sandstone fin. These remarkable formations are viewable from the Tower Arch Trail.

Mill Canyon Dinosaur Bones and Tracksite is a self guided, short loop that takes you past several impressive fossils and dinosaur tracks from the Jurassic period. One unique aspect of this trail is that there are no fences or guardrails protecting the fossils! Therefore, you get the amazing experience of being able to look at the evidence of the ancient creatures unobstructed. Like any area of important history, however, please refrain from touching, defacing, or, of course, removing the fossils or tracks, which is illegal. You can download or print out a pamphlet that describes various sites along the trail here: https://www.blm.gov/sites/default/files/documents/files/Mill%20Canyon%20Dinosaur%20Tracksite.pdf or you can pick one up at the Grand Resource Area.

Tower Arch is a remote, imposing arch in the Klondike Bluffs area of Arches National Park. You will often be the only person at amazing arch in a quiet desert setting at the edge of the park.

The Tower Arch Trailhead is in a rather quiet, remote part of the park and requires driving 8 miles on an unpaved, 4x4 road. There is a pit toilet at this trailhead. Salt Valley Road is sandy and can be quite rough in some places; it is not possible to drive on this road when it is wet. Cell service is not reliable - it is often nonexistent - at this trailhead and the surrounding area. I recommend stopping at the Visitor Center to get information about current road conditions before heading out to this remote trailhead. If the conditions are right, and you have a vehicle that can handle the road, the Tower Arch Trail takes you to secluded, beautiful parts of the park that can be a welcome reprieve from the often crowded trailheads.
