The Oster spring area is very extensive and there is no single source. The area is beautiful and has a lot of bike paths. If you continue along the path you come to the Otterberg, which at 100 m above sea level is already one of the very high mountains in this area. Nearby Tostedt is easy to reach by train and from here you can also go wonderfully into the heath.

When you have arrived at the information board with the bank, you have reached the Ostequell area. If you continue up the Bosteler Berg, then turn right, then left and then right (see photo below "Enlargement" or my screenshot on the main view) you come to the source of the oste. From here the Easter Cycle Path leads to the confluence with the Elbe in Neuhaus, a 145km cycle path!

In July 2020, the Osteland working group and the Tostedt community set up an information board on the Ostequell area. The Easter cycle path, which starts a few km before at Töster train station, crosses the young Oste here for the first time. A new bank invites you to linger. It's just a shame that the following section of the Easter cycle path was not properly renovated up to Tiefenbruch. For years there has been a pothole slope, which is occasionally repaired with coarse and dusty gravel and crushed building rubble. Not very cyclist-friendly and not a nice entrance for the Easter cycle path!
