The Europa-Radbahn is a paved, cross-border cycle highway (approx. 30 km) between Nijmegen and Kleve (Germany), running via Kranenburg and passing near Groesbeek. Constructed in 2019 on a former railway line, this route offers a smooth, flat connection, ideal for e-bikes and recreational cycling, often in combination with the Grenzland draisine. The route runs parallel to the railway line of the former "Nijmegen - Kleve Train Line," near the Groesbeek border. Accessibility: Fully paved and equipped with modern amenities such as charging stations for e-bikes. The path offers a scenic route through the border region, close to the hills and forests of the municipality of Berg en Dal, where the purple Groesbeek MTB route also runs. In addition to the cycle route, you can use the Grenzland draisine (rail bikes) between Groesbeek, Kranenburg, and Kleve. The route is often used for cycling tours that combine nature, history, and the border landscape. Source and more information: AI

The Mookerheide is a forest and heathland area east of Mook in the municipality of Mook en Middelaar in the north of the Dutch province of Limburg. The heathland and the surrounding area around Mook were the scene of warfare during both the Eighty Years' War and the Second World War. The fighting resulted in many casualties. The nature reserve has been managed by Natuurmonumenten since 1985. The battle did not actually take place near what is now the largest remaining heathland area near Bisselt, but on the north side of the village center of Mook, between the Maas river and the Bovensteweg. Several thousand Dutch soldiers were killed. Many of those who fled south perished in the marshlands south of Mook. Near Molenhoek, the Heumense Schans defensive structure can still be seen in the landscape. Source and more information: Wikipedia
