A beautiful path through the forest to a small waterfall.

Pwll y Wrach is a waterfall feature on the River Ennig. The river plunges in two separate streams over a lip of hard rock into a pool formed from softer mudstone. It is suggested that the pool got its name from the ancient method of identifying and punishing witches!

If you are a tad infirm, or walking with the aid of a walking stick, this section will be challenging, especially after any rain. The small hill ahead is steep, has a series of wooden steps, and the top section even has a roped handrail.

This is the Anod footbridge. The trail past the bridge leads goes all the way to Llanddew, which is a delightful walk. This is a favourite walk with local dog walkers, but more than anything, this is a well-known running route. Next to the bridge are also two benches, and a gorgeous wooden fish sculpture. It’s a beautiful location to take a break, or bring your kids to.

As our delighftul Jenny has outlined, Priory Groves is a mixed woodland walk that borders the Honddu river. It is a lovely forest walk any time of year. There are always some birds to see, particularly dippers and grey wagtails. In the springtime, there is a nice display of wild flowers, and the wooden carvings on the trail are super nice. There are plenty of benches to stop at too. This is a really well-known, popular place with local walkers, and runners. It is a very dog friendly place too. The trail is not really accessible to the infirm however, or if you are chair bound. The surface is 90% dirt, and it gets very muddy after some rain. It also has a very steep section half way along the trail that has steps, and even a rope handrail.
