November 13, 2023, Philips Lake

This gem of a lake is located within A. Perry Philips Park south of Columbia. A nice, gravel path leads in a loop all the way around the lake and past several picnic tables offering views of water and greenspace. The lake is a popular boating and fishing area, and you may even see a hot air baloon passing by.

Devil's Icebox is a cave in Rock Bridge Memorial State Park and is part of the longest cave system in the state of Missouri. It's home to a very high number of different species, like the Indiana Bat. To protect those bats, the cave is closed at the moment. It is said that the name of the Cave comes from the cold air leaking out of it.
