This gem of a lake is located within A. Perry Philips Park south of Columbia. A nice, gravel path leads in a loop all the way around the lake and past several picnic tables offering views of water and greenspace. The lake is a popular boating and fishing area, and you may even see a hot air baloon passing by.

With a total size of 750 acres, Gans Creek Wild Area is one of only 12 designated wild areas in the whole state of Missouri. When hiking here, you walk through a forest area full of little streams. The Wild Area is part of Rock Bridge Memorial State Park.
