June 4, 2025, McGrath State Beach

McGrath State Beach is a birdwatcher's paradise, boasting beaches, dunes, and rivers that flow into the sea. If you are exploring the stunning sands here, bring a jacket with a hood. In case a large flock of birds flies over, the hood can protect your head from any droppings.

A nice viewpoint under the shade of an oak tree just off the Harmon Canyon Road. There's not much in the way of shade when you get into the Northern section of the reserve, so I guess it's a good idea to take it where you find it on the lower slopes!
