I fell in love with the “Schänzle”, as people here call the Gasthaus zur Schwedenschanze, at first sight. It's a mountain inn like you rarely find. The restaurant is cosy and the view outside is fantastic.

Not only at the source does the Elz appear in the form of many small rivulets, but also further downstream they flow separately until they collect slightly above the Vogte at the Farnberg.

There is a stone that points to the spring, the actual spring is a little further back in the forest.

The source area extends into the valley behind the spring stream marked with a sign. It is a seepage spring where the water seeps out of the ground in many places and ultimately comes together to form a spring stream. https://www.bund-naturschutz.de/natur-und-landschaft/quellen-in-bayern/quelltypen
