You can only look at the clock from the outside. If you want to see it up close - and recognize the cuckoo - it costs €2 entrance fee per person. Otherwise, it is clearly visible from the street as well - but from there you can hardly recognize the cuckoo, which comes out every quarter of an hour - so of course also at half past and on the hour ;-). You cannot go inside at the moment (April 2026), a shame about the entrance fee. Visitors were disappointed. Nevertheless, it is worth a visit, whether it is worth the entrance fee is up to each individual to decide.

Even without snow (cross-country skiing starts here most days), it's a lovely place to linger.

The inn is highly recommended. Note on the bus service: it has been discontinued since 2024 due to cost-cutting measures. The nearest bus stop on weekends is on Triberger Straße in Schonach, about 2.5 km away (note for hikers on the 7th stage of the Westweg: you only have to walk downhill). Bus 550 runs from there to Triberg train station, which connects to the Black Forest Railway.
