June 13, 2026, Historic Square Farmstead from 1641

Also known as Weyer Castle. This manor house was originally a fief of the County of Loon, mentioned as early as the 13th century. It remained the property of the Weyer family until 1603. In 1641, when the small castle was owned by Jean-Baptist de Graty, it was rebuilt. It was actually an L-shaped manor house surrounded by a moat. The northwest wing (the gatehouse) and the southwest wing are remnants of this. In the second half of the 19th century, two wings were added, and it became a square farmstead. Remnants of the moat are still present. The complex still has 17th-century wall anchors, and above the gate is a facade stone with a coat of arms, the inscription "grata sideragnati", and the year 1641.

This octagonal chapel is a chapel of Our Lady, sometimes also called the Lourdes Chapel, dating from 1872.

On the F70 cycle highway, you cycle through the green Demer Valley, largely parallel to the railway line. Between Hasselt and Diepenbeek-centrum, you cycle on a comfortable cycle path. Certain sections of the cycle highway still need to be constructed or widened. The section between Diepenbeek and Bilzen will be constructed as part of Infrabel's project to replace the level crossings.

Hollow roads are not only important for nature, they also play a valuable role in agriculture and in our free time. Together with other slow roads, they form the perfect routes for hikers, riders, and cyclists to fully enjoy the landscape.
