Just outside Hasselt lies an outdated Hooibergenterrein. On the north side of the city, between Stadswegsloot and De Weede, a place where city farmers used to store their hay.

Perhaps the nicest segment of this mountain bike route; many hills, drops and bends in all sizes. My kids even wanted to go over this a second time.

beautiful little town with lots to see. Next to the beautiful mill there is a small harbor with a lively life on houseboats. A little sightseeing tour by bike through the town and then a stroll through the small shops and the small alleys - there is nothing nicer

The stone dike wall was previously maintained by the adjacent farmers. Everyone was obliged to keep his own part in good condition. The dike was recently reinforced with steel plates (dam plates) that were pressed into the ground electrically (!) and without much vibration. They are now no longer visible. The top of the dike used to be slightly lower. Due to better drainage, the water has not risen higher than one meter from the bottom of the wall for many years. My photos were taken after a lot of rainfall in recent weeks: the water sometimes just reaches the foot. The Steenen Dijk is a monument and quite unique in the Netherlands.
