September 13, 2026, Flow Trail Fichtelgebirge

In the meantime (2026), the (old) Flowtrail is one end of Trail No. 3, the relOX. Shortly after the old entrance from the lower Ringloipe into the Flowtrail, Trail No. 3 branches off to the right and leads to the valley station. The Flowtrail is now Trail No. 3b (bOXenstop) and goes directly to the Bullhead House. Info at bikepark1024.de

The Wurzbachweiher is reminiscent of 18th-century logging. As a so-called "Schwallweiher" (surge pond), it was used to dam the water of the Wurzbach in order to flush the felled wood downstream towards Steinach with a targeted flood wave. Standing at the pond today, you can still clearly see at the outlet how shallow and narrow the stream actually is – it’s hard to imagine the enormous water pressure that once had to be generated here to move entire tree trunks. The idyllic spot is therefore not only a great resting place, but also an exciting insight into the harsh work of that time.

The Karchesweiher also includes the Karches country house. The name comes from the Weissmain blast furnace (= Karches). Built in 1706 by master smelter Johann Christoph Weller with an associated dwelling for the smelters. He processed the iron mica found in the immediate vicinity. Today it is a great excursion restaurant with a wonderful ambiance and beer garden by the lake.
