Lottbek Reservoir

Here the Lottbek is dammed to a beautiful pond. Apparently an Eldorado for anglers. I would like to watch an angler standing up to his waist fighting with a big fish (about 1m long).

Beautiful and green way from the north almost to the center of Hamburg. Everytime you find new corners and ways. Here you forget that you are in a million metropolis.

Upper Alster Trail

There is not much to hear from the city noise here. The Alsterwanderweg winds to the left, sometimes to the right of the Alster he leads directly into the center of Hamburg.

The Upper Alster north of the Fuhlsbüttel lock has always been a popular destination for people from Hamburg. Since the beginning of the 20th century, it has also been used for the newly emerging sport of canoeing. However, competitions were initially largely unknown. There were only a few clubs that practiced the new sport. On June 26, 1912, a few canoeists who were interested not only in touring trips but also in sporting competition founded the Upper Alster VfW. In the same year, together with the Alsterbrüder Canoe Club, a long-distance race from Fuhlsbüttel to Rodenbek was held. The club, which initially had two boathouses (in Fuhlsbüttel and at the Mellingburg), was one of the founding members of the German Canoe Association (DKV) on March 15, 1914, and was one of the clubs with the most members at the time. In 1921, the VfW built the first boathouse in Fuhlsbüttel on the Alster. It burned down in August 1930. After just seven months, the current building, which was expanded in the 1950s, was inaugurated. In the 1920s, a handball department was founded, followed by a table tennis department. A fencing department was added in 1959. In addition to these divisions, there are now also departments for football, gymnastics, triathlon and an athletics and running club.

Both humans and dogs like to use the bench as a resting place. Actually, the bank is never empty. From here you can hike in four directions.

In the middle of the nature reserve, on the Alster in the north of Hamburg, is the Mellingburg lock. A gem in unspoilt nature.

No matter what time of year! Whether in winter with snow or in autumn with colorful foliage. Here is a quiet place to pause and enjoy the beautiful view. Then you have to decide: take the route towards Ahrensburg or to Lottbek :-) It is best to come twice (or more often) and go both variants :-).
