Behind the inscription stone from 1880, a wooden sign with a „romantic“ poem and the picture of a blackbird rises. But this bird did not give the place its name. Below the bank rock, there was once a ford and a ferry point, where logs were pulled from the river on a rope - from this came „Amsel“ - and loaded onto carts. Next to the rock, the old haulage road can still be recognized. Recently, a covered rest area has invited visitors to linger here. View overgrown, from the rest area you don't see much of the Zschopau. https://www.mittweida.de/fileadmin/Tourismus/Wandern/schweizerwald.pdf

A sad episode in German history: Today's Wettin Barracks in Frankenberg was also part of this crime, as it housed the concentration camp guards. The Wehrmacht frequently participated in the crimes of the Nazi repressive apparatus and was largely controlled by the Nazi regime. With the exception of the assassination attempt on July 20, this occurred without significant resistance. Certainly worth a visit, but inappropriate while out for a run in your tracksuit. The viaduct crosses the Zschopau River behind the Braunsdorf-Lichtenwalde stop. It consists of a steel bridge approximately 108 m long over the Zschopau River and a stone viaduct approximately 255 m long over the right-bank floodplain. https://www.karl-gotsch.de/Monatsbruecken/2012Jul.htm
