"A giant gatekeeper made of oak wood by the artist Roland Lindner guarded the Salzwedel Gate of Gardelegen for years before it was attacked by fungi. Now he stands as a pond guard behind the castle park at the "Faule Breite" fishing pond." Copied from the book "in the middle of Nüscht" published by Sibylle Sperling.

In the heart of the Altmark, the Letzlingen hunting lodge rises in the midst of an almost fairytale natural backdrop. No wonder that so many couples in love say yes today in this ambience! The first wedding took place here in the 16th century. Elector Johann Georg von Brandenburg, who had the hunting seat built in this area rich in game, stepped with Princess Elisabeth of Anhalt-Zerbst in front of the altar in the castle. After the old "Hirschburg" was forgotten for a long time, the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV brought the hunting residence back to life and had it rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style.
