The history of the Ty2-22 steam locomotive, manufactured in 1942 by the German company Henschel & Sohn in Kassel (factory number 26943). Service history on the Polish State Railways (PKP): After the war, it entered the PKP inventory as a Ty2-22. During its service, it was assigned to various locomotive depots, including Wolsztyn (e.g., in the 1960s), Wrocław Gądów, Głogów, and Oleśnica. End of service: It was removed from the register and eventually became a monument. For a long time (since 1997), it stood as a monument on the site of the former Świebodzki Railway Station in Wrocław. In 2012 (or, according to other sources, after renovation in 2021), it was moved to Lubin. In December 2021, it was installed as a monument (an exhibit of the Historical Museum) on Kolejowa Street (Lubin Górniczy station).

A Technical Monument - Ty2-22 Steam Locomotive from 1942 Ty2 is the Polish designation for the German wartime freight locomotive series BR 52 (Kriegslokomotive), mass-produced between 1942 and 1945 in numerous factories in Germany and occupied countries. Designed with the goal of maximum design simplicity, material savings, and shortened production time (it was a simplified version of the BR 50 series), it was intended for wartime transport, particularly on the Eastern Front, on poorer tracks. It also featured facilities for winter operation. Number of Locomotives: This was the largest series of steam locomotives operated by the Polish State Railways (PKP) after the war (over 1,200 were in service in Poland, and after purchases from the USSR, this number exceeded 1,400). They were used until the end of steam traction, valued for their ease of operation and durability.
