The Jägersteg is one of the central crossing points in the Ölschnitztal. Those looking for a short break will find a shady spot in the wooden pavilion on the bank. The old, dilapidated wooden bridge has been replaced by a massive steel structure, which visually doesn't fit here. At least you can reliably cross the river again.

Today's Protestant castle chapel is the last largely preserved structure of the old Stein castle. The combination of massive old castle walls, mighty wooden beams, and the idyllic location on a rocky spur makes this place particularly charming.

The late Gothic ruin is located on a steep rocky spur above the spa park. In addition to the well-preserved walls and towers of the palace, the view into the neighboring Marienkapelle and the great view over the rooftops of Bad Berneck are particularly worthwhile.

The former castle chapel of Hohenberneck was a fortified church. Due to its dominant location, unique architectural design, and fully developed defensive capabilities, it held a special position among the Bavarian fortified churches. Therefore, from an architectural and art historical perspective, it was a true gem. The ruin has been restored and can now be visited again.

The stage was built in 1906 and is one of the oldest open-air stages in Germany. In the past, various cultural performances with a special flair were offered here in a natural setting under the open sky. The Romantikbühne stage has seating for about 400 people. In addition to major plays, musical theatre and musicals were also performed on the stage. In 2026, there will be no program on this stage, but an alternative program in the New Colonnade in the Kurpark.

On the 442 m high Schlossberg stands the landmark of Bad Berneck, the keep of the Old Castle, built in the second quarter of the 13th century. First documented in 1248, the Old Castle belonged to the Burgraves of Nuremberg from 1338 onwards – and served them as an administrative castle. In 1430, the castle was probably partially destroyed in the Hussite Wars. During reconstruction, the castle was expanded with a zwinger and a kitchen. From around 1536, maintenance measures were neglected. The castle fell into disrepair and served the town as a "quarry". In the Romantic era, the castle was rediscovered and, in the taste of the time, the tower was raised by one story in 1818, and the bell from the then demolished town hall found a new home in the roof structure. A plaque above the tower entrance commemorates the visit of Prince and later King Ludwig of Bavaria on June 20, 1905.
