Beautiful, but completely overrun with tourists. Single file through the palace.

A very pretty little town with winding streets. However, like every hot spot, it's now completely exploited for tourism.

The Sintra National Palace, also known as Palácio da Vila, is one of Portugal's most iconic monuments and the oldest royal palace in the country. Located in the historic center of Sintra, it is easily recognizable by its two large, white, conical chimneys, nearly 33 meters high, visible from many points in the city.

Sintra's current palace stems from many royal palaces. This is a series of buildings built over many centuries, added and modified with the actual date of the foundation of the oldest palace in the country, a question still to be resolved. In all likelihood, the first building was built around the 10th or 11th century when Sintra was under Moorish rule.

The Park and the palace are both very beautiful. However, the combination ticket is €14, which i found a bit expensive. I would say it was worth it but please take some time to explore the Gardens as well. The best spot to see Pena palace from is the Queens throne.
