Incredibly beautiful and beautifully restored castle complex. The entrance was free before, but after all the renovations the price is really justified. The view of Celje is the madness and the surrounding mountains in the north and south to Lasko

Hudičev Graben Gorge

Highlight (Segment) • Gorge

Devil's graben is a relatively little gorge in the immediate vicinity of Celje, which runs a small stream that forms numerous small waterfalls. The visitor can admire beautiful natural scenes in this hidden corner under the mighty, rocky Srebotnik.
Before entering the gorge you can reach the road to Laško, where a little from Celje to the left at the turnout for Pečovnik - Zagrad turn left, then across the railway line to the right, and a little further along the railway bridge we can park. The path is marked through the "eyelids" through the marked, and leads us past the inn of the inn, through the meadows, through a lovely village, and in the lonely mill, it moves upwards to lead us through the woods of the forest to the lower entrance to the Hudičev graben.
We can visit and pass only this part where the stream is caught in a gorge or the path is extended in the direction of Celjska huts. We will need roughly 1 hour to get to the hut.
A visit to the rain and floods when the path is slippery and rocks wet and the stream can become a torrential is not suitable for a visit. Nice.

Celje Castle is arguably the most famous and largest castle ruin in all of Slovenia. In the Middle Ages, it was the seat of the Celje family – one of the most powerful aristocratic families in Europe. The castle, like the city center of Celje, is surrounded by greenery. Slovenia's largest medieval castle, a fortress on top of the hill, still towers over all roads leading to the center of Celje. After a tour, you can relax in the picturesque surroundings.

The trail runs directly along the lake, over wooden boardwalks, beautifully landscaped gravel paths, and across the floating bridge, sometimes shaded, sometimes in full sun, is truly beautiful. The hike around the lake is rather modest, as the road portion is estimated at over 90%. No, this isn't nature-based hiking; that's life-threatening. Conclusion: Stay by the lake, walk, swim, and drink coffee. Thumbs up for that. Frank Häfner, August 20, 2025

I think it's also worthwhile to mention hike through Hudičev Graben (Devils Gourge) just 20 minutes away. And on the Trail from Zagrad you passed little house where writter and traveler Alma Karlin lived after WW2 with her friend Teja Gamelin. She was actually a century before modern hikers and influencers. She travel around the world in aprox 1920 to 1924 with her Erika (a model of type writting machine 😊). Google for her books!
