Beautiful valley, even in bad weather. You can see some animals, such as ground-nesting gulls, arctic ground squirrels and caribou.

The northeast summit of Mount Healy is far less traveled than the southeast summit located on the Mount Healy Overlook Trail in the park. This side of the mountain is steep, rocky, and usually super windy. Only mountain runners with route finding and steep mountain running experience should seek to tackle this trail. That being said, this trail offers a real Alaskan mountain-running experience with the promise of solitude the further up the mountain you climb.

The Rock Creek Trail is a popular, smooth trail that connects the park's visitor center to the dog sled demonstration center. This trail has a few hills in it and can be combined with the Roadside Trail to make a loop. Of all the trails immediately next to the visitor center, this is one of the lesser populated trails (though it still sees some traffic).

You will encounter a number of different foot bridges when running in Denali National Park, and the Triple Lake Trail features a couple really cool suspension bridges at the northern end. This 9-mile point-to-point trail is definitely most popular at the northern end near the park visitor center. If you run past the bridges, you'll start to see fewer and fewer people.

This section of the Triple Lakes Trail actually goes right up next to the collection of three lakes. The majority of the trail follows alongside a creek and makes you feel much deeper into the park than you actually are. The Triple Lakes Trail is the longest established trail in Denali National Park and has two different trailheads. Unless you are using a shuttle, this is normally done as and out-and-back run.

The Savage Alpine Trail on the west side of the mountain is known for being steeper, rockier, and having more switchbacks. That being said, this part of the trail is also a bit shorter than the north side. Some people choose to come up this steeper way and run down the north side, but you can run basically every step if you decide to do it in the opposite direction. There are some steps cut into the trail on a couple of occasions on this side of the mountain that you'll need to be careful on, but there are always views you can stop and admire.

The Savage Alpine Trail is a 4-mile point-to-point trail in Denali National Park. A lot of people who hike the trail utilize the shuttle system in the park, but it is easy to turn this trail into a loop if you are running it (you just have to finish with a couple road miles). The south side of this trail is a more gradual slope and makes for easier running. There are continuous views as you climb through open tundra meadows.

The Savage River Loop Trail is one of the most maintained and popular trail in the park, but you can try to dodge some of the crowds by going early in the morning. This is a really well-marked and straight-forward trail that offers open views pretty much the entire time. Being slightly uphill on the way out, it's easy to fly on the way back.
