The Strandbad Wandlitzsee as a whole complex was opened in 1923. The historic bathing house (bathing house with catering and lounge areas) also dates from this early phase of the 1920s. The current lakeside restaurant is located in the modernized or converted historic bathing house, which has been renovated and repurposed several times.

The third pool is one of three loosely connected small lakes, water-filled depressions in the meltwater channel between Lake Liepnitz and Lake Wandlitz. These Ice Age relics have neither an inlet nor an outlet. An ideal resting place, away from the hustle and bustle around Lake Wandlitz, to pause and recharge.

Long ago, a giant is said to have lived in the forests around Wandlitz. However, he was disturbed by the morning ringing of Prenden's church bells. Enraged because he couldn't sleep, the giant took three giant strides toward Lake Wandlitz. These three strides created Lake Liepnitz and its island. Holding a large stone in his hand, the giant hurled it toward the church tower, but only hit Lake Wandlitz. The stone fell into the water. Three drops of lake water swirled through the air and fell into the forest. This is how the "Three Holy Puddles" on the outskirts of Wandlitz were created.
