The warmest lake in Austria. The place is a bit reminiscent of the Adriatic coast.

There is only a weak current flowing through Lake Klopein. Only a few smaller superficial tributaries with low water flow and groundwater feed it. This makes Lake Klopein one of the least flooded lakes in Carinthia, which also explains the high water temperature. The runoff leaves the lake in the west and ultimately drains into the Drau. Lake Klopein is 1.8 kilometers long, 800 meters wide and 48 meters deep at its deepest point; the average depth is 23 meters.

This natural lake with a sandy bottom is surrounded by a 20 to 40 m wide belt of water lilies and reeds. The deepest point is about 9 m. Water lilies and mud prevail in the shore area, the lake is therefore only accessible via a few jetties, but all the more an "angler's paradise".
