August 6, 2023, Spyglass Hill Trail

The Spyglass Hill Trail system consists of over 20 miles of horseback riding and multi-use trails through the forests bordering Enid Lake. Some of the trails are better maintained than others, and the loops closest to the lake and furthest east seem to be in better shape than a lot of the others.

The hiking and horseback riding trails at Spyglass Hill end at a primitive camping area for those looking to do an overnight trip. There are picnic tables at the top in a pretty flat clearing.

This upper section of the Rocky Ridge Horse Trail is locked in an infrequently traveled forest, and it becomes harder to follow after this. Once you reach the dirt Midway Road, you can decide if you want to push through the overgrown trail any longer. You probably won't see anyone else out hiking if you make it out to this section of trail.

Rocky Ridge Horse Trail is a pretty standard Mississippi trail; it begins at a well-marked trailhead and deteriorates as you work your way further from the start. This section along the lake is the most frequented section of trail and offers picturesque views from the shore.

The trails at Clear Creek Landing Public Use Area on the banks of Sardis Lake are some of the most popular mountain biking trails in the area. They are also great hiking trails, but the winding and intertwining trails can get confusing. That being said, the trails are marked pretty well, and you can create different loops using different trails.

The Clear Springs Nature Trail is a short loop trail just outside of Sardis, Mississippi. The trail is split in half by River Road (on which the parking is located), and everything south of the road is located on a boardwalk through a Mississippi marsh.
