The Sand Canyon Trail is a one of a kind trail. It's true to its name in the fact that it's sandy and travels up a canyon the whole time. That being said, it's almost guaranteed to provide you with a lot of solitude since not a ton of people hike this trail. It's also lined with cool rock features, canyon plants, and lots of hidden caves and ancient ruins. There are spur trails that lead to most of the ruins accessible off the side of the path.

Of the many cliff dwellings and ruins that can be found at Canyons of The Ancients National Monument, the Saddlehorn Pueblo is one of the most picturesque. It features some obvious brick walls that are preserved within a cave in the side of the canyon wall. There are spur trails that let you explore area up close.

Wow, what a super cool feature! This spot is not only the best photo opportunity on the Poquito Burrito Loop, it‘s also a great location for a snack brake.

This is the start of the Poquito Burrito Loop that was added to the Phil‘s World trail system in 2018. If you have troubles riding the very first feature then better rethink and keep on riding on Stinky.
