Jonesborough is the oldest town in Tennessee and is considered one of the most beautiful. Founded in 1779 as part of the development of the regions west of the Appalachians along the so-called Wilderness Road (from 1775). From 1784 to 1788, Jonesborough was the capital of the newly founded state of Franklin, which was never recognized and whose territory later became part of the state of Tennessee. The old center along Main Street is well preserved, with some historic buildings. Everything is very small and close together and definitely worth a stop. https://www.jonesboroughtn.org/
