This train station was built by the original Denver, South Park & Pacific Railway back in 1879. For 60 years it was the center for trains entering and leaving town but by 1939, the last Colorado & Southern train left town and the old depot fell into disrepair. The Como Depot is now owned by Como resident David Tomkins and thanks to his efforts combined with that of the Denver South Park & Pacific Railway Historical Society, the depot has been restored to his former glory. The DSP&P Historical Society now leases the depot and are developing a museum of South Park Railway artifacts. Find more updates and background at https://www.southparkrailsociety.org/como-depot

Riding clockwise gives a harder climb than counter, and the downhill is fun and flows smooth.

If you want to grab a bite or charge your devices, this is a good spot to hitch into the town of Jefferson, which is just 4.3 miles south of here.

The Geneva Creek Basin is full of mining history, geological phenomena, and views of towering peaks. One of the highest peaks making up the basin is Silver Mountain at 13,266 feet (it makes up the north wall). This riparian area has many streams and fields of wildflowers with plenty of camping (just keep in mind that the road to the trailhead is super rough and requires a vehicle with 4wd and clearance).

From the ridge, you get a fantastic view of the Iron Fens below. These fens form as mineral-rich water emerges from mountain springs, crafting vibrant shelves and terraces composed of limonite. The plant life in this area is equally impressive—you can observe it quite well from this viewpoint on the ridge.
