The giant mushroom sculptures are part of the Kogumelos Project, but—and this is important—they are not a mycological project, nor a theme park of real mushrooms, but rather an artistic intervention in nature created by the artist Agustín Sánchez Carro from Arzúa. These sculptures are located in the Portodemouros reservoir area (Arzúa – Vila de Cruces – Santiso), where the artist has installed several pieces in situ as part of a larger art-in-nature project.

The village of Arzua, in reality, apart from accommodation and refreshments, does not offer much and the outskirts are quite sad and abandoned.
