A nice alternative to the signposted and asphalted Rhine cycle path, directly along the banks of the Rhine.

Newly built giant bench near the watchtower and vineyard swing in 2025. Juwel has already explained everything else nicely. All I can say is, it's one of only three XXL giant benches I know of. This one offers a phenomenal view. The landscape here would have been attraction enough on its own.

The giant bench at the vineyard swing at the watchtower in Nierstein is a real eye-catcher – not only because of its size, but also because of its stunning location. It stands above the town of Nierstein on the so-called Red Hang, one of the most famous vineyards in Rheinhessen. From there, you have a sweeping view over the vineyards, the Rhine, and on a clear day, even as far as Frankfurt and the Taunus Mountains. The bench itself is oversized – so large that adults feel like children sitting on it. It invites you to linger, marvel, and, of course, take photos. Also nearby is the vineyard swing, which is also a popular destination for walkers and hikers. Together with the historic watchtower, a medieval signal tower dating back to the 12th century, the giant bench forms a charming ensemble of nature, history, and enjoyment.
