The famous Rhine and the foothills of the Rhenish-Hessian hills characterize this circular tour, which takes its name from a former railway. It once ran between Alzey and Bodenheim; today, a wonderful cycle path runs along its route.
You start in Bodenheim and immerse yourself directly in the landscape characterized by vineyards and fields. The first section begins in Harxheim, following a former railway line that takes you to Selzen. You cycle along flat farm roads to Friesenheim, where the second magnificent railway line section awaits you.
You then reach the Rhine near Nierstein. The last few kilometers back to the starting point are truly breathtaking: With a view of the gently flowing Rhine, you cycle through famous vineyards such as the Roter Hang. A detour to the center of Nackenheim is also worthwhile before you return to Bodenheim.

This route was planned by komoot.
After canceling the komoot recording and restarting the navigation on my cell phone, Silke's recording was actually supposed to be used for publication. But behind Harxheim the 🛰️ was no longer able to locate Silke's cell phone, so there is only a straight line in the recording to Mommenheim. 🤷🏻♂️😡 That's why here is the continuation of the tour https://www.komoot.de/tour/1292401125 from the "cancellation".
Traveling along old railway lines. AMICHE and VALENTINCHE.
Beautiful bike tour to start our three-day bike tour in Rheinhessen over railway lines, along the "Roter Hang" vineyard and through historic wine villages. At the end of the tour a bit along the Rhine and lots of benches to enjoy the great sunshine.
We started from the Sickingenhalle car park in Köngernheim
Long live movement. 🤭 In addition to leisurely hiking, today I was out on my second hobby: leisurely cycling. 😅 "Amiche & Valtinche" were the names of branch lines in the Rhine-Hesse region. Where Konrad Adenauer traveled by train in 1957, you can now cycle there, without any major climbs. The route runs along the Rhine, through vineyards and beautiful leaf tunnels. There are plenty of places to stop for refreshments, and there's even a wellness hotel along the way. 😎 Today, there were a particularly large number of storks out helping with the harvest.

Ending the week with brilliant sunshine and pleasant early spring temperatures...so I hopped on my bike and took a relaxing little ride around my new home. 📸😍🚴♂️🌸
