Monument in homage to the Montluc prisoners shot at this location on July 12, 1944. On this day, twenty-two prisoners were extracted from the Montluc prison (Lyon, Rhône). They are driven to Genas (Isère, Rhône) in a truck escorted by two black cars. They arrive around 7 p.m. at a place called Bouvaret. German soldiers get them out of the truck into a field and fire several machine gun bursts, mowing twenty men. The last two detainees try to escape through a hedge and are also executed. The Germans abandon the twenty-two corpses on the spot and leave in the direction of Lyon. The Genas monument was inaugurated on September 16, 1945. On July 7, 1946, a plaque was also inaugurated located at 9 Cours Gambetta (Lyon, 7th arr.), In memory of five officers of the United Youth Forces (FUJ), Hugues Barange, Henri Debiez, Henri Denis, Pierre Poncet and Pierre Toesca, executed on July 12, 1944 in Genas.
