This section is beautiful; a good gravel road makes for a leisurely and relaxing ride along the Aare River between Wangen and Solothurn. However, part of the route is closed until the end of 2027 due to the expansion of the A1 motorway. A partially signposted detour is in place.

Unfortunately, a lot is changing with the lane widening of the A1, as embankments have been cleared and a lane for construction vehicles has been built.

The Niederbipp Reformed Church, located outside the village at the southern foot of the Jura, dates back to a medieval church and received its current appearance in 1669 and 1712. During these years, the building was converted into a hall church with a gable roof and a polygonal choir. The front tower from 1518-21 is modeled on that of Oberbipp. The interior includes an elaborately carved Renaissance pulpit, a baptismal font from the 18th century and stained glass windows by Robert Giesbrecht from 1910. scenic path on the Aare. Swimming in the river is challenging due to the high flow speed... Unfortunately, the nearby A1 is constantly noisy.

Cute little cobblestone village. Very charming place, right across from the flower shop is a fountain and on the other side a bike shop for needed repairs.

The Bättlerchuchi is a crossing over the first Jura chain east of Solothurn. The name translates as: beggar's kitchen. According to a legend, beggars camped by a campfire here at the transition from the canton of Bern to Solothurn.

Impressive Aare lock. Easily passable by bike. From the south side you can get there at good speed, as two short descents lead to the lock.
